2015 Toronto Xiangqi Open

Set for July 12

 

Jointly organized by the Toronto Xiangqi AssociationMarkham Xiangqi Association and Scarborough Seniors Chess Club, the 2013 Toronto Xiangqi Open is set for Sunday July 12.

 

The Toronto Xiangqi Open is an annual tradition dating back to 1978. With Diamond Sponsors by the New Kennedy Square and Happyroadex Ltd. on the Trophies, Cash Prizes and Gift Prizes, the tournament will take the form of a 7 rounds (45’+15”) of Swiss system tournament, to be held on two Sunday – Jul 12 starting at 1pm for 3 rounds, Jul 19 starting at 11am for 4 rounds, followed by final matches (45’+30”) for first and third place on Jul 26 at 1 pm. All games will be held at the New Kennedy Square (8360 Kennedy Road, Markham, HW7 and Kennedy Road).

 

The tournament is open for any individual. Top four finishers and the top senior player will be rewarded with trophies and prizes. Award presentation will take place on Jul 26 evening during the Dinner.Prior registration is welcome. Or just drop by on the first day of the tournament, and we’ll introduce you to one of the world’s great games. The cost of entering the tournament is free for members and $10 for non-members, all are welcome.

Regulation

 

Organizer:      Toronto Xiangqi Association (TXA); Markham Xiangqi Association (MXA);

Scarborough Seniors Chess Club (SSCC)

 

Event:             Individual and Senior Open

 

Time:               Preliminary Jul 12 @1pm, Jul 19 @11am; and Final Jul 26 @ 1pm

 

Location:        New Kennedy Square (8360 Kennedy Road, Markham, HW7 and Kennedy Road)

 

Method:         

§  WXF Rules will be adopted.

§  7 preliminary rounds (45’+15”) using the Swiss system.

§  When players obtain equal scores, their rankings will be decided by match points; opponent’s match points, and total wins.

§  Any player that is absent for 2 rounds is automatically disqualified.

§  The final round takes the form of two-game matches (45’+30”) in which the top four from the Swiss tournament play off for the first and third places. Tie breaker will be fast game (10’+10”) and super-fast game (5’+5”).

§  The Senior Champion is the top senior player from the preliminary rounds.

§  Champion; 1st, 2nd and 3rd Runner-up  – Trophy, and Cash Prize

§  Senior Champion – Trophy and Gift Prize

 

Entry Fee:       Free for Members; $10 for Non-Members

Deposit $10 (will be returned upon completion of tournament)
